The Trade Union movement started in State Bank of India much before Indian Trade Union Act came into existence in 1926. Few Indian Employees of Imperial Bank of India came together to form an union in the style "Imperial Bank of India Indian Staff Association" on 1st February, 1920 with its head quarter at Kolkata. Our Union is one among the 16 Circle Unions affiliated to All India State Bank of India Staff Federation which is the sole bargaining body at all India level representing Award employees working in over 22000 branches of State Bank of India.

State Bank of India Staff Union, (Mumbai Circle) is only Recognized staff union for State Bank of India Maharashtra Circle & Mumbai Metro Circle. Geographical area for membership is Maharashtra and Goa State. Register Head Office of Union is situated at SBI, Local Head Office, BKC, Mumbai and having Sub-Offices at each Module as per Bank's Organizational Structure. State Bank of India Staff Union (Mumbai Circle) is the single union having membership of more than 95% Clerical and Sub-Staff working at Branches/offices in the State of Maharashtra and Goa. Our Emblem

The Logo of Our Union" can be interpreted as a symbolic representation of solidarity, strength, and unity. It conveys the idea that when individuals come together as one, they form an indomitable collective force, much like the powerful symbol of a ‘Clenched Fist - वज्रमूठ.’ This emblem has been used across various social, political, and historical contexts to represent collective action, resistance, and the pursuit of common goals.
